What is Yoga Therapy? Yoga Therapy is the application of yogic principles to an individual with the objective of achieving a particular spiritual, psychological, or physiological goal. Lisa will intelligently apply the teachings of the eight limbs of Yoga; Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi, using meditation, textual study, chanting, and imagery, respecting individual differences in age, culture, religion, philosophy, occupation, and mental and physical health. Yoga Therapy is applied to the individual not the individuals ailments.

What to expect: Yoga Therapy is a custom-tailored session meeting the needs of the individual. The initial session will be information gathering to set your intentions and a direction for your practice and growth. Subsequent sessions include a tailored private yoga practice focusing on Mind Body and Spirit with modification, breathing and meditation techniques. As we start to peel the layers away our approach will be driven by what we encounter together.

Yoga has been a journey for Lisa. She originally started Yoga for all the same reasons as many others — an interesting way to get fit. She never expected to be affected by Yoga so deeply. It was transformational for Lisa. Through her practice Lisa found a sense of calm and peace. Intrigued she wanted to learn as much as she could about Yoga. If it could effect her so profoundly there must be more to it than fitness. In en effort to learn more and deepen her personal understanding of Yoga she decided to take Yoga Teacher training and became a certified Yoga teacher.

Lisa attended the Marianne Wells Yoga School and earned her CYT200 then continued on to the YogaLife Institute to earn her CYT500 in Yoga Therapy. It was through this enrichment that Lisa realized she needed to teach and joined Pink Lotus Yoga as a co-owner sharing what she learned. Lisa believes that Yoga can teach you so much on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

As a member of Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT200/E-RYT500 Instructor and International Association of Yoga Therapy (IAYT) Lisa wants to create a community centered around yoga where she can share her passion for Yoga and Yoga Therapy. Lisa’s desire to learn is never ending; In addition to her Yoga certifications, Lisa is certified in Reiki Level 1 and 2. She also has additional training for Prenatal Yoga, Yin Yoga and Thai massage.
Lisa’s philosophy of yoga is about working with what you bring to the mat that day. She has a gentle and relaxed manor to help you along your journey. Her practical nature comes through in her lessons with the belief that the movement of the body should be within the harmony of your breath and never forced. Each class brings new challenges to the student and the teacher and she prides herself on her ability to adapt each day’s practice to what you bring to the mat that day.
